Setup Guide: Assembling Your NMD Clock Mechanism & Hands
So, you’ve just unboxed your new Nightingale Metal Design Personalized Clock, and you’ve noticed the hands aren’t attached. Don’t panic—there is a very good reason for this!
To ensure your clock arrives in pristine condition and the delicate aluminum hands aren't bent during shipping, we wrap the mechanism and hands separately. This guide will help you get your masterpiece up and running in just a few minutes.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- The Rubber Washer: Place the black rubber washer over the threaded center shaft of the mechanism.
- The Clock Face: Insert the center shaft through the hole in the center of your metal clock. Ensure the battery compartment is facing the bottom.
- The Brass Washer: Place the small brass washer over the shaft on the front side of the clock.
- Secure the Nut: Hand-tighten the mounting nut onto the shaft. Note: Do not over-tighten! A "hand-tight plus a quarter turn" is all you need.
- The Hour Hand: Gently push the shorter (hour) hand onto the shaft.
- The Minute Hand: Push the longer (minute) hand onto the shaft. Our minute hands are "push-on" style and do not require an extra nut.
- The Second Hand: Gently push the second hand onto the very tip of the shaft.
Pro Tip: Look at the clock from the side. Make sure the hands are parallel and not touching each other or the metal clock face. If they are touching, the friction will stop the clock from keeping time.
