More Than Steel: The Story Behind Our Runner Medal Hangers
Our line of Runner Medal Hangers isn't just a product category for me. It’s a tribute to a friend, a commitment to health, and a reminder of the miles that changed my life.
The Spark: A Tribute to Joe
In May 2019, I reached out to a long-time sales rep and friend named Joe. I was shocked to learn that Joe had unexpectedly passed away at just 51 years old. Joe was a kind, hard-working man, and his passing was a wake-up call for me. I realized that life is fragile, and I needed to take my own health more seriously.
A week later, lying awake in bed, I decided I needed a massive goal to focus on. I decided I was going to run a marathon. I hadn't run consistently in over 20 years, but I knew that if I went "all in"—telling my friends, family, and social media—there would be no backing out.
From Training to the Philadelphia Marathon
I spent six months training, rediscovering the grit and discipline that distance running requires. In November 2019, I crossed the finish line of the Philadelphia Marathon. Since then, the miles have kept adding up: multiple marathons, half marathons like the Philly Love Run, and local favorites like the Media 5 Miler.
For any runner, the medal you receive at the finish line is more than a piece of heavy metal. It’s a physical manifestation of every early morning, every blister, and every mile of training. I needed a way to display that milestone with the respect it deserved.
Crafted by a Runner, for Runners
Because I couldn't find a display that felt substantial enough for the work I put in, I went to my shop and designed my own. Using our high-precision fiber laser, I cut the first Personalized Male Runner Silhouette Hanger. I wanted something made of heavy American steel that wouldn't bend or sag under the weight of a growing medal collection.
Today, we offer several versions to celebrate every athlete’s journey:
